GEORGE & CRAIG'S READING LIST – PART FIVE
THE AFFAIR By Lee Child
This is the latest in the "Jack
Reacher Series," and we finally get the Back-Story. It's 15 years ago,
Reacher is still in the Army, and he receives a "Special Assignment."
As his investigation unfolds, in a very strange murder case, we're blessed with
the Genesis of many of the Unique Characteristics of him, which we have learned
to truly love.
THE LITIGATORS By John Grisham
This is the first Grisham book that
has Hilarity as its main ingredient. Yes, it's about The Legal World, and, yes,
it touches on some Serious Subjects. However, the laugh-right-out-loud stuff is
Exhibit "A".
It involves a Class-Action Lawsuit,
and makes some Important Points, and does it all in a Wonderfully Humorous way.
THE DEVIL'S STAR By Jo Nesbo
This is the first in the "Harry
Hole Series," and we are treated to a fascinating study of "Norway's
First Serial-Killer." (I'd read "The Snowman" as my
introduction, which is number four in the series, and equally as terrific.)
Harry moves with Genius, and also Stumbles repeatedly, as he attempts to solve
all of the Riddles-Within-An-Enigma. Right before the end, I finally figured it
all out. I was wrong.
THE JAGUAR By T. Jefferson Parker
This is the latest in the
"Charlie Hood Series," and the scariest. Most of the characters we
met in the first four adventures are here. And Scared. Though I know that
Parker uses Fact as a basis for his Fiction, it's very unsettling to admit that
this kind of Behavior actually does exist among Human Beings. Parker does a
magnificent job, interweaving information from the previous installments,
reminding us of details, and connecting all the deadly dots. Powerful Stuff.
